Charter Boat Hire For Sea Angling & Sight Seeing Trips, Youghal, Co. Cork, Ireland

Whale Watching And Dolphin Watching

South Coast Charter Angling arranges whale watching trips off the South Coast of Ireland and was delighted to be involved in the humpback whale sightings off Hook Head, Co. Wexford in January. An historic occasion, it was shown as part of a documentary series 'Wild Journeys' on RTE, Ireland's national TV station.

We can arrange to pick up passengers at Duncannon or Dunmore East during the winter and Youghal throughout the rest of the year. Over the last 7 years regular land based watches from Ardmore, County Waterford and Hook Head, County Wexford have indicated an abundance of cetaceans (the collective name for whales and dolphins) along the south east coastline. There have been seven different species encountered in these waters ranging in size from the harbour porpoise at just over 1m to the second largest mammal on the planet, the fin whale at over 20m.

As well as whales and dolphins there may be sightings of other marine wildlife, including grey and common seals, basking sharks and even the occasional sunfish or leatherback turtle together with the many different species of seabird that will be seen during the trip. As you will appreciate, on any outing it is not possible to guarantee that you will encounter dolphins or whales but you will always be certain of an enjoyable day at sea.

For further information on whale watching trips contact South Coast Charter Angling.

Below you will find links to reports on the recent sightings as well as a collection of photos.
